Never having learned about drawing and not acquiring the coordination required, I think I am a natural case to study drawing as a phenomenological experiment.
If I try to trace on the page the shape of my hand as I see it in the moment of the mark my hand has moved since I began the line, it is not the hand seen in a static view and has the stamp of time over it
Because I do not know how to draw a hand to look like a hand, I must work to draw factually what I see in front of me, and not to fill in the gaps. This induces a reflexive process where I make a drawing and the act of mark making and drawing makes me. a poetics of action and imagination.
